I feel like his claim to um his claim to like authority or like to the people's trust in him

is that he gets that you get to listen to the guy who is like you know what enough already

with all of this right I don't know I don't know what your thought is on that, but like, what do you think gives him,

what do you think gives him grip?

Well, yeah, I mean, look, never, never underestimate the value proposition of telling people

exactly what they want to hear.

Absolutely.

And I, and I do think that that's a large part of the value proposition here, which is to say that he is telling people what they want to hear.

He's saying you, New York Times reader, right, are an intelligent, our intelligent, sophisticated and educated person and are perfectly capable in all, within this society of ours and all of its manifested manifold complexity

of making a thousand decisions a day that may very well have something approaching life or death

consequences. You are capable of making decisions about, you know, your health and welfare

and your children's health and welfare and the health and welfare of your neighbors.

You're capable of deciding when it's safe to drive in a car and when the roads are too icy.

You know, you're capable of incorporating information and making decisions about it for yourself.

And now we've reached a point where you can do that for this thing that's been disrupting your life for the last

two years. And I think that that is an incredibly seductive and an incredibly powerful

argument to make to people, and particularly to make to people who, not to sound too much like

Lein Hart here, but who because of their political

ideology, who because of their disgusted anti-vax conservatives or at Donald Trump or whatever,

need permission from an outside source of authority to go back out and do what it is that they

want to do. So I think that it's giving people permission to do something that they sort of want to do anyway.
