Summary

Welp, starting therapy again is exposing just how much the Mormon church messed with my brain! Hello everyone and welcome to the Girls Camp podcast Patreon, Girls Camp After Dark. It is I,

0:07.7

your host, Haley Rawl. And today we are going to be talking about all of the many ways that

0:14.4

Mormonism fricked me up. I've been going to therapy. I know I know. I've been talking about this as much as humanly

0:22.7

possible. It is my main and pretty much only goal for 2025 to go to therapy regularly once a

0:32.7

week for the entirety of this year. I'm a couple months into this journey and, surprise, surprise,

0:39.5

we've got some Mormonism popping up as I'm working through some of my mental health issues,

0:46.8

some of my negative thought patterns. I actually legitimately have been surprised how much

0:52.6

Mormonism has come up for me. And I think that's because,

0:55.8

as I've talked about on the girls camp, Maine, I feel pretty much done with deconstruction.

1:04.3

As far as it relates to doctrinal things and analyzing and unpacking the culture. I mean, of course, there's always going

1:13.1

to be some of that. But I really do feel like I'm mostly beyond that deconstruction phase. However,

1:21.0

deconstructing the belief system of Mormonism is one thing. And then parsing all of the things

1:27.4

out that Mormonism has done to your psyche

1:30.6

and your personality and your family dynamics and your marriage dynamics. That is a whole different

1:37.9

beast. What I've done is taken some notes on mostly like these areas in my life or these negative thinking patterns that I

1:47.0

find myself falling into that do really relate to Mormonism. And I just want to walk together

1:52.8

through those. I think I've also been thinking a lot about this and where Mormonism ties in to

1:59.3

mental health stuff because we are in another wave of

2:04.2

Ruby, Frankie, Jody Hildebrandt, eight passengers commentary. Because in case you missed it,

2:11.7

Hulu released a documentary called A Devil in the Family and it's about Ruby and Jody. I think many of us have watched it.

2:19.5

And holy shit, there is so much there. I'm not going to dig into that super in depth because Wednesday's

2:26.9

episode, I got to talk about this with my friend J.C. And that's kind of the bulk of what we talk about
