Summary

Subscribe on Patreon and hear this week's full patron-exclusive episode here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/101050023 As we prepare for this week’s Supreme Court hearing on mifepristone, Beatrice and Abby discuss the controversy surrounding a recent paper that claims that pregnancy-associated deaths are dramatically overcounted in the US, and that as a result the crisis of perinatal mortality is overstated. We also discuss what the problems with their approach tell us about similar attempts to separate deaths “with covid” from those “from covid,” and the social construction of science as a whole.
