0:47.0	and after pregnancy and how that's counted. Now, you might have heard that 2021 was a record year
0:53.6	in the United States for deaths during
0:55.6	and after pregnancy.
0:57.1	And recently, there has been some controversy and debate around the way that the CDC counts
1:03.4	these deaths.
1:04.6	So you might have seen reporting or discussion of what's called the maternal mortality rate
1:09.5	being in crisis in the United States.
1:11.4	We've covered this on the show in the past. And according to CDC data, there are 32 deaths in
1:17.1	pregnant people for every 100,000 live births, which is a rate of risk that is on average 10 times
