Summary

The Holy Spirit patiently taught me to keep working. I can see I was not always self-controlled. I learned little by little, one step at a time. It was not a part of my character at first, but it was my spiritual worship of God, to love Him, to make Him known.

Hello, my wonderful friends. This is Sally Clarkson, and I'm so glad that you join me today.

Well, as it happens in this particular podcast series, we have been going through the fruit of the spirit,

0:51.3

as Paul wrote about in Galatians. And it's really been so wonderful for me,

0:57.3

actually. I think sometimes when you have to take responsibility for teaching something to

1:02.0

someone else, you have to learn about it yourself. And so right up at the top here, before I get to

1:50.6

Well, that's kind of what Paul had in mind here. It wasn't like each of these was a different fruit.

1:56.8

It's as though he was describing why, if you really knew the Holy Spirit, what the Holy Spirit is like,

2:03.9

the Holy Spirit is full of love, and the Holy Spirit brings joy, and the Holy Spirit creates peace

2:11.5

and patience and kindness and so and so forth. So as we look at this whole passage that we're talking about in Galatians 5, we need to

2:22.0

understand that as we are growing in the power of the Holy Spirit, as we allow the Holy Spirit to have

2:29.7

more and more access to our lives, we will find that we're growing in all of these different areas.

2:39.0

But today, we're going to be talking about self-control. Oh, my goodness, what a big area.

2:46.3

But it's kind of as though Paul wraps all of it together with self-control, because if we
