There have been countless stories that have come about as a result of the pandemic.

Some are heartbreaking while others are inspirational.

The way we as human beings respond to these circumstances say so much about who we are and what we aspire to be.

An encouraging thing has been seeing artists and performers who have taken their talents to create work that makes us smile and laugh and remember that we are not alone in all this.

Photographer Christopher Fernandez found a way to explore that very idea

when he hung a sign on his London apartment window

to be read by the inhabitants of a building across the way.

That sign said that he was a photographer

looking for subjects to photograph in their own flat.

Because of social distancing, he couldn't go to their places he usually might.

Instead, he would be photographing them from his own apartment and directing them over the phone.

The stories and the photographs walk the line between portraiture and documentary,

while also examining ideas of privacy in the modern world.

If nothing else, the story of making this all happen is just fascinating.

Well, there are a lot of people who are doing projects during the COVID pandemic, and

some of it involves photographing strangers but I thought that your particular story

was an interesting take on it because I know there's several people who are taking photographs

of people in their neighborhood on their porch or stuff like that but just how you initiated your

project I thought was that's what really spurred my interest even more.

So, and we'll talk about it.
