Hi, everybody. Welcome back to the Be There in Five podcast. I'm Kate Kennedy, your host. In case you missed it, I've been doing two episodes a month for the past couple of months that are director's cuts, where I air episodes that you guys nominate that you want to

rehear or take something off of Patreon that the public hasn't heard like today's and put it on

the main feed and then add commentary or behind the scenes about the episode. I'm working on another

project and I like just need headspace in time. Ever since I lost gray matter from having a child, I don't think I ever recovered and now I can't do two things at once. So I feel like ever since Showgirl, I haven't really been thinking that much about Taylor Swift. I don't know what she's up to. She's obviously busy. She's getting married, loving her life, happy for. But I also kind of miss talking about her music because I don't know, T.S.L. S.L. Taylor's lyrics are my second language. I can't be bothered to actually speak any other language. I'm on week, 10 million of Duolingo, and I think we just got past salutations. My God, that F is slow. My son is laughing me in Spanish. I'm having a really hard time. Actually, where TSLSL does benefit my son is he

knows the proper pronunciation of Jaguar. He has flash cars of car brands. It's pretty boring for me,

but very adorable. And he loves the, I was going to say to Taylor Swift pronunciation of Jaguar,

but I guess that's technically the proper British one, correct? Today we're reviving a Patreon

episode from 2021 that I'll update today with lyrics since then

about the way Taylor Swift pronounces words, phrases, sounds, vocal textures that like scratch an inch in your brain.

And to say scratch an inch in your brain might be something subtle.

You know, you'll find I have a kink for the way she says,

burn, and I don't mean to sound purvy,

but her plosives really get me going.

The gentle handling of the P and Lamp and B and Byrne and Peter

is really what I mean by this.

Or, you all heard you are and push my buttons um you know it's not every time but like this is what this is why we talk through these things because there are certain ways these sounds are

delivered in a particular song that match the melody or the emotional tenor or aid in the storytelling

that I think she actually, I don't know, uses her voice in interesting ways depending on the

vibe of the music. But I also think she has specific vocal tendencies that are kind of funny,

like often pronouncing kitchen kitchen, dancing the kitchen you know bear foot in the
