In 1948 a man of around 45 years of age was found dead on Somerton Beach, on the outskirts of Adelaide, Australia.

Sitting up as if staring out to sea, he was a man that until this day has no name and no cause of death.

In 2013, new layers of intrigue were added,

sparing renewed interest in the case,

but the story of the Som to man still remains a mystery.

Hello and welcome, season one, episode five, I'm Ben and this is Dark Histories.

Today we're going to be having a look at the Somerton Man. This is Belter of a case

and one that is probably one of the original mysteries that got me kind of back into

mysteries I suppose as an adult. I used to do a job as a care worker and I'd have a lot of downtime where I'd just be sitting around doing

nothing basically and I just sort of get my phone out and read random internet, trawling the internet basically.

And I came across this case and this is kind of, yeah, it's kind of the case that got me back into mysteries as an adult.

Because as a kid and teenager I was all over it,

but I suppose it had been a little while.
