For the first decade or so of my homebrewing career, I, like I imagine, is the case for many others

out there, purchased ingredients on a batch by batch basis.

Unfortunately, this meant that I often ran into the issue of poorly stored hops,

brownish tinged pellets and small oxygen-rich baggies that had been sitting on a warm shelf

for who knows how long.

Well a few years ago I heard about a company who was selling hops in bulk to home brewers directly

from the region that they were grown in.

Yakima Valley Hopps has since become a household name

for home brewers who prefer their hops fresh

and well packaged.

They're also run by a really cool couple of dudes

who I feel very fortunate to call friends.

Now as anyone who is listening to this podcast regularly or

follows us on social media knows, Malcolm Brian and I were just up in Yakima for

the tail end of Hop Harvest. In addition to all of the rat events that we got to

attend, we spent a good chunk of time just hanging out at the Yakima Valley Hop shop,

a hop shop, that's their local homebrew shop there in Yakima,

where I was able to convince John Snyder, Jeff Perkins, and Caleb Schwecky to sit down for an interview.

A lot of great stuff that we got from that.
