Ten years ago, as I was preparing to emigrate here to Texas, a certain internet talk show was

being spooled up, and little did I know that our fates were intertwined.

Now we enter the tenth season of Talk Heathen.

We are in a very different world from the one that I emigrated in.

And we find ourselves on the front lines of a fight against a certain type of pervasive, conservative Christian nationalism.

With things like Project 2025, the dismantling of the Department of Education, the repealing of Roe,

all the way up to the cutting of childcare

assistances very recently. It's quite clear that the separation of government and religion

is massively at risk and that the powerful are using Christian dogma to try and force families

into a certain set of roles.

Kept hungry, uneducated and desperate, the father must go out into the world and work all hours

to make ends meet while the mother stays home as part nursemaid, part incubator, part housemaid.

Slaves obey your masters, as the Bible says.

But if you think this isn't happening,

or if you think that it would be good if it did,
