Rather than a flashback this week, I thought we'd mix it up. So, I've got something a little different in store.

The Tail Wheel Here Tonight is an excerpt from a new novel by author Leslie Lutz, read by the author herself.

I also sat down with Leslie for a chat, virtually, a little over a week ago, which I'll share with

you afterward as well. Leslie's new novel, Fractured Tide, came out just last month. After reading it

myself, I have to admit, having been on maybe a dozen scuba dives, I was pulled in by the natural marriage of diving and

horror. But the tale Leslie Weaves is more intricate than that. I think it was one of the reviewers

that called it Lost Meets Stranger Things. Not sure I could put it better myself. We don't tend to feature much young adult horror on the podcast, but with the summer months approaching and many people with extra time on their hands, I can't think of a better time-paced, time-bending creature feature.

I had the pleasure of spending some time in the hammock reading Fractured Tide

in the last month or so. So did my 14-year-old son as soon as I was done. It was nice to be able to read

something that we both enjoyed. So, without further ado, listen with me to an excerpt and

interview from Leslie Lutz's Fractured Tide. I had done this kind of dive hundreds of times on dozens of wrecks.

But the descent felt strange this time, alien.

And I was the alien, slowly floating through the atmosphere of a new planet,

pulled by gravity to a place I didn't belong.
