It's week two of our Bram Stoker Awards' short fiction showcase, bringing you the finalist for this year's Stoker Awards.

Our Stoker Award nominated tale for this evening comes to us from Champ Wang Satyanant.

Champ is a writer from southern Thailand, who was once ordained as a Theravara Buddhist monk, and now, unrelatedly,

practices Shaolin Kung Fu. He studied BA Psychology with Philosophy at University of Oxford

to learn the secrets of mind control. He attended Tin House Workshop 2025, Clarion Workshop in 2024, and Faber Academy 2023.

And somewhere along the journey, he had an epiphany that he would punch for the trees.

Children of the Night, join me for Champ Wang Satyanance Autogas Ferrymen, first published in Nightmare

magazine number 156. The Krongtep means the city of gods, a much more charming name than the bawdy Bangkok that foreigners joke about.

But to Somsak, it is the city of ghosts.

He drives his taxi slowly along through the glittering blocks of shopping malls, the neon signs of

Yawarat restaurants, the pulsing beats of soy cowboy, looking for customers, loitering in traffic

to make sure he is seen, until he's chased away by security guards or traffic police.

Sometime after midnight, two girls hail him in front of the alleyway that leads to the hip and hidden bars near the Chinatown herb wholesalers.

The one in front is waving, the other leans her head out into the road.

He stops beside them and they get in the backseat.
