Last week, I talked about being very much certain about satanic cults that would be coming for me as a child.

Of course, I managed to avoid that.

I also mentioned that I might have been introduced to the scary world of terror and horror

at that time.

As I've thought about it, that's correct.

I believe that the first author that I had read who wrote horror was Frank Peretti.

The name, I'd wager, is unfamiliar to most,

because he wrote for a rather niche market, the Christian

fiction market, that is.

The first two books that I read of his were, is This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness.

The stories are about demonic inclusions into the human world and the angels that battle them.

It's a pretty dark reading, and I'm not quite sure how those books manage to get past my parental filters,

probably because it has the title of Christian on it.

However, I recently skimmed through another book of Paredes called The Oath,

and for the few passages I've re-read, it has held up well, and isn't so heavy-handed

with the Christian message. But don't get me wrong, it's still a Christian book with a Christian

message. So, if that's not your bag of communion wafers, give it a pass. But I may put this book
