Welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham. It is Monday morning. It is the last Monday in August. In fact, it is not only the last Monday in August. It's

the last Monday that Boris Johnson will be technically the Prime Minister, because as of next Monday,

he won't. It'll be September the 5th, and there'll be either Liz Truss in charge or,

heaven forfend, Rishi Sunak.

Some people think Rishi Sunak still has a chance of winning.

Some people think that not everyone has voted.

Some people think that the dying embers of the old treasury will make sure somehow that

Sunak gets in charge.

But whatever happens, we are well in the do-do, ladies and gentlemen.

People are saying they're going to stop heating their homes.

People are talking about putting on jumpers.

People are talking about not being able to operate as a restaurant or as a hospitality venue

due to the excessive amount of money.

People are going to be charged to have gas, to have electricity.

There is, of course, a genuine cost of living crisis now, because people are genuinely

concerned, genuinely fearful, and we have still heard little to nothing from anyone inside of

Liz Truss's campaign or Rishi Sunnach's campaign about how this is all going to be addressed.
