0:18.0	Well, when I was in elementary school, we had two patrols.
0:22.0	We had the safety patrol, which guided all the parents' cars
0:26.0	during pickup after school.
0:28.0	Which I don't know whose decision that was to let 10-year-olds guide traffic.
0:31.0	But that's what we did. It made us strong.
0:34.0	But there was another patrol called the fire patrol.
0:38.0	And their job was during fire drills,
0:40.0	the fire patrol would set up in strategic positions around school.
0:43.0	And we would time how long it would take the children to get out.
0:47.0	And then the director of the chief of the fire patrol
0:49.0	would have the stopwatch that he got from the assistant principal's desk
0:52.0	at the front of the school. He would time how long it took everyone to get out.
0:55.0	And then would go on the intercom afterwards and tell everyone how they did.
1:00.0	Now, by the grace of God, at the end of my fourth grade year,
1:04.0	I was chosen to be fire chief the following year.
1:07.0	Yes, thank you.
1:09.0	But then summer came.
