trying to suggest that there is some kind of hostile movement against them, as opposed to people who've gone about their everyday lives and struggled for their own freedom and self-government

and going out into the world to work.

But in China's near abroad, in Southeast Asia, and the two countries mentioned Laos and Cambodia,

China has significantly increased its influence.

And they have had a very permissive environment to police ethnically Chinese people and some others who just speak their mind

in ways that might be critical of China on human rights or national security terms, but

definitely going after anyone who is from Taiwan or speaks of Taiwan as anything other than a vassal

of the CCP. And so in some ways, it's same old, same old political warfare from the CCP.

But I think this internationalization is more muscular and it is weaponized in social media and other ways.
