He goes into detail about the lockdown and the effects in him and the movie industry, his relationship with Mohamedou Slahi upon whom his latest release ‘The Mauritanian’ is based - and his experiences being detained in Guantanamo, truth in suffering and mirroring that in performance, rhythm and musicality of language (and different languages), The Eddy, auditions, cinematic antics which ultimately led to a career and also a low-key redemption, and he speaks with Pip about a handful of his other projects too.
