I'm John Batchew with my colleague Bill Rajo, Senior Fellow Foundation for the Defense of Democracy,

0:09.2

and David Diuda, the FD. Bill, when we had that conversation the other day about all worries come down to Syria,

0:16.2

I've reflected on that ever since. Syria is not the problem. It's Turkey. Do you agree, Bill?

0:23.7

I would agree that Turkey is a major problem, absolutely, but you still have, you know,

0:28.7

how Syria is divided. You still have jihadist factions operating there. The Islamic State

0:35.6

hasn't been defeated. You have a former al-Qaeda branch

0:38.7

running the government. You have, you know, as you mentioned, Turkey growing influence. But you wouldn't

new roads and putting in trenches, and it is apparently a whole division in

1:28.5

Syria. Now, this is the new policy out of Jerusalem. I mention all that because Turkey is moving

1:34.4

into those airfields who are intends to. Turkey's arming al-Shera. Turkey is being actively hostile

1:40.5

towards Israel, rhetorically and factually. It denied overflight permission by an Israeli

1:47.4

delegation flying to Baku to negotiate deconfliction with Turkey. What is your measure of the risk

1:54.8

of the IDF in Syria? And is, are the Alawites a threat? As Bill mentions, ISIS is a threat, HTS a threat, or is it the Turkish military, a NATO power up against Israel?

2:07.7

Look, I think there are a lot of threats emanating from Syria or that are emerging in Syria.

2:12.1

When we talk about Syria, I think we're talking about even assuming the best of intentions on the behalf of
