The last we checked in on Syria, it had a president self-named.

His name is Al-Shara.

However, I remind all of us that Bill Rajo,

the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy,

and his colleague Ahmed Shahrauri had very little faith that Al-Shara could maintain order in Damascus or anywhere in

Syria. Bill, rocket fire out of Syria toward Israel. You report in Long War Journal.

You had sometimes stated that there's nothing stable about the Al-Shaara government.

Are you surprised at the speed that this happened?

Look, Ahmed, our colleague David Dood and I had said at the outset that the Syrian Civil War

hasn't ended. It merely has entered a new phase.

Shara, who used to be a member, used to lead al-Qaeda's branch in Syria and his

cadre.

They only control certain areas of Syria, Idlib, Damascus, and sub-suburbs, and whatnot.

There are other factions who are armed, who are either hostile or dislike Shara and his jihadists.

There's the remnants of the Assad regime still exist.

There's Kurdish groups.
