I welcome my colleague and friend Bill Rajo, Senior Fellow Foundation for the Defense

of Democracies, keeps the Long War journal. The long war is about the transnational

threat of the jihadists, especially. And we do not move carefully enough sometimes to

understand the scale of this. However, I mentioned within these last hours a car attack in Mannheim, characterized by the German police and the suspect in custody.

The car attack, exactly the same pattern that we saw in Munich some two weeks ago, a car attack.

That one, they identified the suspect as an Afghan asylum seeker

who'd been rejected and was disappointed in acting with what the German police said was

Islamic extremism. We do not have similar information for the Mannheim attack in these last hours.

However, the German Interior Minister has canceled her participation in the carnival.

The car was driven into a crowd waiting for the carnival parade in downtown Monheim.

All this points to a continuing threat now and again to civilians.

These are civilian targets.

These are soft targets.

From here to Syria is an easy connection because Syria is a gathering of all the bad

elements of the jihadists, especially in Idlib province. You have a new item up

at Long War Journal about Sencom vowsafing yet another strike in Idlib, and you tell me this is

the fourth strike in these last days since the Trump administration took charge of the policy

in the Middle East. And this strike went after a military

commander. Who's gone, Bill? And what was his significance? Especially in light of what we're

given is that Syria is now reorganizing itself in Damascus by a man who used to be al-Qaeda
