Hello and welcome to talk Nurdy. Today is Monday August 28th,

2023 and I'm the host of the show Kara Santa Maria and as always before we dive into this week's episode I do want to

thank those of you who make talk nerdy possible. It's just been a rough year

for ads across most all podcasts and so basically the only income I'm getting

from the show right now is support via Patreon and it's helping keep it going

it's helping me pay my incredible assistant Noel who does all of the bookings and all of the sort of

back end difficult work it's helping me pay the editor who takes care of getting the

show nice and clean for you each week because of course I am still full time at my internship

although I'm just finishing up which means I'm wrapping up my PhD as we speak.

I defended my dissertation two Mondays ago now and I'm time traveling a bit though am I no no this will

be going up on Monday yeah of course sorry thinking out loud so I'm doing like too many jobs and I need help. There's no way I could put

this podcast out all by myself anymore and so I obviously I'm going to pay the

people that help me what they're worth. I still don't think I pay them what they're worth, but I try to pay them at least appropriately and fairly.
