This all began for me when I appeared in mid-September on five Sunday shows, days after

our embassies around the world had been threatened by violence and

demonstrations and when our diplomatic facility in Benghazi was attacked by terrorists.

Against that backdrop, my daughter, I can only assume, was imbibing

what was in the background on the television and in the whole atmosphere.

She started to say that, you know, she was seeing images of men coming out of the wall at her when she was at school in the classroom or when she was at her friend's house for sleepover.

And she was having what can only be described as hallucinations.

When we get into these political hit games in Washington and what I call the politics of personal destruction

I think many people don't

understand that the people who suffer most are not necessarily the targets of the

attacks but the people who love the people who are the targets of the attacks.

Ambassador Susan who are the targets of the attacks.

Ambassador Susan Rice was the National Security Advisor for President Obama

and she was the member of the administration who went out on TV days after a terrorist attack on the

consulate in Benghazi and said what the intelligence community told her to say.

She was not personally in charge of the consulate, she was not dishonest or incorrect in what she said on TV that day.

But that day would shape her life as Republicans in DC and at Fox News seized on her words as a chance to attack her, President Obama, and a chance to

damage the future campaign of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The attack on Rice was painful and unrelenting and it included senators like John

McCain publicly questioning her intelligence and her character. Let's be clear

the Benghazi attack which killed four Americans was tragic.

And the way Republicans in DC used Benghazi as a political football was disgusting and disingenuous
