The biggest moves in the markets.

The oil markets today, West Texas, 4954, up by almost 2% on the day.

Brent crude at 5180, also an almost 2% move on the day.

What's causing that? Well, the proximate cause, the forecast that stockpiles in the United States dropped significantly.

We had the Petroleum Institute numbers out yesterday.

At 1030 this morning we get the Department of Energy figures and we'll see what they show.

There was, of course, a turn in oil prices not long ago when OPEC announced that it was going

to try to put some sort of production caps in.

The interesting thing is after prices went up, analysts piled into the market saying,

not going to happen.
