Every year, a bunch of teams start the season hot, and some of them even stay that way.

Marty Tallman and I are going to take a look at some of those teams who are starting hot

and trying to see if there are some underrated fantasy gems that we may have missed over the offseason.

Welcome, everybody, to the Sunday edition of the Road to Wire Fantasy Baseball podcast. I'm Eric Halterman and joined today by my guest Marty Tallman, co-host of the Triple Play Fantasy

podcast. Marty, how's it going? Your elbow is still functioning? Everything's going pretty well.

Thank you for having me on. It's a true honor to be on the RodeWire podcast and going to the Detroit Tigers game later today. So I'm going to do some, I'm going to be in the field, doing some field work for the show. So yeah, super excited to be here. Thanks.

Excellent. Well, you can report back if all your takes today end up being wrong. We'll retract the episode. So good, good that we'll know right away. It's good to have a

Tigers fan on today because one of the teams we will be talking about today is the Tigers. And now

some of you might be saying surprise teams. That's a little early for that. And it is a little

early for that. But the main idea today is that you've got to be a little bit optimistic, I think,

especially in deeper leagues. And we're going to be thinking optimistically today about some of

these teams and some of these players. We're going to get to maybe six to eight teams,

depending on how quickly we go. And I would say, what, maybe one or two of these teams will

probably end up with 85 to 90 wins and

pushing for a playoff spot. But when teams play well, that means the whole situation for everybody

on the team is better. Their pitchers get more wins. Their hitters get more runs in RBI. And hey,

also, some of the hitters might just be kind of good when we thought they weren't kind of good. So that's the vibe we're going forward today. I think we're not going to be conclusively saying, go get every single one of these players. We're just going to be a little bit optimistic and say, hey, do we miss something here? We might have. So do you like to be an optimistic fantasy player marty

does that is that work for you today uh my partner would definitely say optimism was never been my

my strong suit um but today for you i will do it i will do it good good well we'll try to keep you

optimistic for your tigers at least and then you can uh get that's the team I'm usually the least optimistic about it for being honest.
