Hey everybody, I'm excited to be recording the 20th episode of the All Things Fishing podcast.

I'm really excited this week. I'm looking forward to doing more.

Yeah. So this episode is starting a series about surf fishing.

So surf fishing is something I don't do a whole lot I've done before. It's pretty fun.

Um, I haven't caught any fish doing it just because I haven't done it very much.

A lot of people catch fish. A lot of people have a lot of fun. Um, yeah. So this

episode is about surf fishing gear. So on with the rod, you're going to want a medium heavy

to heavy. And if it's a spinning rod, you're going to want big guides. You're going to want

double-footed guides and yeah so depending on

what type of fish you're going for that's just really the medium heavy or heavy depending on what

what size of fish you're going for and how powerful they are and for for for the reel if it's a spinning reel, you're going to want a strong aluminum spool,

and then also the drag you're going to have to decide based on the size and power of fish

you're going for.

Also, the gear ratio does not really matter, especially for saltwater bait fishing.

Like I'm mostly, like if I'm ever salt water fishing, mostly I'm using bait.

Sometimes I do use lures, but mostly it's just bait.

So if you're using a casting reel or a bait casting reel, you're also going to want a strong aluminum spool.

Any really doesn't have to be aluminum as long as it's strong and it can withstand the pressure of big fish pulling line off of it.

Same thing as with the spinning reel, you're going to want, it doesn't really matter. The gear ratio doesn't matter.
