I'm Harry Littman. From its high perch, seemingly impervious to the protests of colleagues, the legal

community, and the American public at large, the six members of the ultra-conservative Supreme Court majority loosed several term-ending

thunderbolts that violently altered the legal and political landscapes in this country and increased the prospects for a

disastrous return to power of Donald Trump.

The court reserved its loudest proclamation for the final day of the term,

issuing a long-awaited opinion on presidential immunity from criminal charges.

It is no exaggeration to say that Trump versus United States reconfigured the tripartite structure

we all learned about in third grade and placed the president, any president, firmly above the law and all other Americans.

The first impact of the ruling was definitively to eliminate the prospect of a trial for Trump this year

on charges of attempting to hijack our democracy after the 2020 election.

In a flurry of final opinions, the court also upended

administrative law in a manner that will immediately impact all Americans lives

bolstering the federal court's authority at Congress's expense.

And it cheapishly dismissed an abortion case putting off until after the election the prospect of a follow-on to its hugely unpopular

Dobbs opinion over ruling Roe versus Wade of two terms ago.

Coupled with Joe Biden's disastrous debate,

the court's actions have left our nation's political and landscapes

as unsettled as they've been in generations while raising the likelihood that Trump will

evade all accountability for his historic transgressions.
