one breaking news story that broke this morning a little while before we started recording

and just to place us in time,

we're recording on Wednesday, December 13th,

always a Wednesday, just after the noon hour.

And we have two stories we're going to start out with both turning on abortion.

One of those is that breaking news story that I just mentioned.

So my co-host, Kate Riga, this is her beat here at TPM reproductive rights.

So Kate, let's just go right to this.

What happened, what is this, tell us what happened this morning at the Supreme Court and why is it

matter? So the Supreme Court agreed to take up the biggest abortion case, I mean the

only abortion case that they'll hear since Dobbs which centers on Mifapristone, one of the drugs used to induce abortions.

And it was expected that they would take it up. The government asked them to,

one of the manufacturers asked them to.

This is a case that our listeners will remember

started at Matthew Casparix court,

where he revoked the FDA's original approval of Mifapristone from 20 plus years ago.

And then also would kind of bat down all the restrictions that the agency has lifted since then.

That decision, it was a really big one.

He had tried to keep the hearings under rap so the press couldn't come.
