Welcome back to another episode of the Fastening Method podcast. This is Coach Terry Lance, and I am joined by very special guest today, Coach Lisa. Lisa, how are you doing?

0:29.5

I'm doing great, Terry. Thank you for the invite. Absolutely. And I'm going to just mention it, but this is a repeat for us, not for listeners, because we

0:40.0

already recorded this a couple of weeks ago. And then after the fact, I realized that my computer

0:45.3

had not downloaded some of the recording because I had too much stuff in the memory. So,

0:50.9

I apologize. But folks, you are getting version 2.0 of this instead of the first run.

0:58.2

Remember what I talked about? That's right. It'll be all new for us, right? So we originally

1:02.8

decided to do this topic because it's something that comes up a lot within the TFM community.

1:08.8

And it's something that I think a lot of people who are learning how to

1:11.8

fast are paying attention to their nutrition. They're also thinking about supplements and what does

1:17.1

my body need and how do I get it and how do I know. So you suggested that we do some talking about

1:24.0

it and help inform people a little bit more about it. And then later in the

1:28.9

episode, we'll talk some more practical stuff about how to get some of the things that your

1:34.8

body needs. What are some things that might affect that, like timing and things like that.

1:40.9

So I think where we started last time, Lisa, was maybe talking a little bit, giving people

1:45.9

a little bit of frame of reference or what are all these things, these minerals and amino acids

1:52.2

and peptides and things. What does all of that mean? So enzymes are proteins that do the work.

2:00.1

They speed up chemical reactions and they break things down

2:04.3

like digestive enzymes, right? Or they build things up like cholesterol synthesis, all right? So they're

2:12.0

not consumed in the process. They facilitate reactions over and over and over again, where hormones are messengers.

2:22.3

They carry signals to trigger a response like insulin. Insulin is a hormone and it tells cells to
