narrative. There are a lot of reasons why women don't make it into the historical narrative as

much as they might. One big reason is that most of the documents we have that tell the story of

history are related to government. And of course, that's a place where women didn't

participate that much there are however places where we can gather information

about women one area is household expenses which would have been managed largely

by women Elizabeth of York Henry the 8th's mother's privy purse expenses are all

available for the last year of her life,

which gives us insight into what was important to her and how her household was run.

Women also appear in court cases from time to time like Bess of Hardwick, who will talk about

later a woman who continually fought for what she was owed, and that can give us insight into
