Summary

The one and only, the legendary Natalie Cook, comes on The Running Effect Podcast today!

Natalie is one of the most accomplished athletes of our generation. Natalie currently competes for Okhlama State University, where she has quickly cemented herself as one of the top NCAA runners in the country. Most recently, she placed 7th at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country National Championships. Then a few weeks later, she followed that up by running a blistering 15:24.26 in the 5k.

In high school, Natalie was named the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Player of the Year in 2021, becoming the first female athlete from Texas to win the award after she was the first athlete in girls' high school history to win both the Garmin RunningLane and Eastbay Cross Country Championships for the coveted individual national championship double. In the former, Cook recorded the second-fastest 5K time in high school history, posting a time of 16:03.93 to win the individual championship. She also won the Texas 6A state championship race by a historic 56 seconds on her way to helping Flower Mound to the team title.

This conversation was one I've been wanting to make happen for far too long, so it was a true honor to make it happen! I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Natalie and all the different topics that we discussed, from her start in the sport to current subjects.
