Sister Joan Chittestor encourages us to take a second look at the faith we thought we

knew. An award-winning author of nearly 50 books, she brings her passion, her energy, and

fiery spirit to everything she does. Born in Dubois, Pennsylvania, Sister Joan says she felt

called to be a nun at just three years old after the death of her father. As she grew in

faith, she also grew in the courage of her convictions. The devout Catholic nun with a

modern mind, she speaks out about the role women play in our global culture. Her wisdom

and moxie have taken her far beyond the monastery walls. Today, she's 78. She writes, lectures,

travels the world, spreading a universal message of peace, justice, and equality.

I love that my good friend Elizabeth Leser, who's been on this show many times as you know,

calls you a spiritual visionary who lives between water and fire. Only Elizabeth Chittestor

will. Between water and fire. Do you see that in yourself? No, but I recognize that

when somebody reads it back to me, I say to myself, oh goodness, am I coming across like

that. I'm really quite a sap. I'm really a patsy, but my problem is that I care a lot.

I care a lot. And it's that picture of Jesus walking from Galilee to Jerusalem and seeing

someone on the side of the road, and he simply can't pass. What is amazing is that you've

been a Catholic nun for 60 years. To. 62 years. And I talk a lot on this show about calling.

I speak a lot of my life about because I believe everybody who's on the planet, you've been
