0:00.0 | My name is Will DeFrees, and this is the Sunday Scaries Podcast. You are here for the Sunday Blues. |
0:15.3 | This week some list of questions. Let's get right into it. |
0:19.3 | The first, do you have any famous people interactions worth talking about? |
0:24.4 | Truthfully, I don't have a ton. I've met several famous people in my life from when I was a little kid and I was obsessed with Detroit sports. |
0:31.2 | To now, when I work in an industry where sometimes we actually get to be around famous people. |
0:36.6 | It's pretty cool. But the most memorable famous person interaction I had, I actually barely interacted with them at all. |
0:42.9 | It was in New York somewhere around 2013. I was stuck up in Michigan. It was freezing cold and I was like, all right, I need a vacation. |
0:50.7 | So I decided to go see some friends in New York. I had never been before. I had this very idealistic vision of New York and I just went there. |
0:59.0 | And so I went for I think four or five days. It was truly a bender of a weekend and I woke up hung over pretty much every day. |
1:06.2 | But one particular day we decided to go for a walk on the high line. If you're familiar with New York City, you know exactly what I'm talking about. |
1:13.1 | And after that we were kind of spent. So we decided to stop for some beers and lunch at a dive bar in Brooklyn. |
1:19.9 | Unfortunately, I don't remember what the name of this place is and I kind of want to keep it that way because I don't think I really need to |
1:26.8 | overthink it and go back there. But I will say that it was a very straightforward place. I think on the menu they just had beer. |
1:34.7 | They might have had an option for light versus dark, but I'm not sure. And then on the menu they just had a burger or a hot dog. |
1:41.1 | It was very Brooklyn feeling, very hipster feeling. There were only so many seats. |
1:46.2 | I think there were three or four seats at the bar and then two booths that you could sit at and the side of the bar. |
1:51.9 | And so we sat down there and we were it was four of us. And after a few minutes and we've gotten our beers, we looked over at the table that sat down next to us after we sat down. |
2:01.9 | And I immediately recognized the guy basically just because of his hair. |
2:06.1 | It was James Murphy, the lead singer of LCD Sound System, one of my all time favorite bands. |
2:11.7 | And I was kind of in shock. Luckily for me, we had another friend with us who I think was a bigger fan of LCD Sound System. |
2:18.0 | So I think he was a little bit even more in shock. And even though we didn't say anything, it was such a small setting that we didn't want to interrupt them and make them feel weird. |
2:24.8 | Like we were just gawking at them the entire time. It was pretty cool. And probably the most Brooklyn, New York experience of all time of just sitting down somewhere, looking over and seeing one of my favorite recording artists ever. |
