Summary

Jesus spoke about those who mourn. He said that those who mourn will be comforted. We serve a God who cares about what concerns us. Those who have been redeemed and saved from sin, are grieved when they see sin and wickedness in the world. Followers of Jesus mourn over the effects of sin on this world. But we don't stay in a place of sadness. We trust that Jesus has conquered sin and death, and one day, we will see the fullness of His victory. As we follow Jesus, may our hearts be soft and grieve over what grieves the heart of God.

0:14.0	Today we are going to talk about the second way that we can follow Jesus
0:18.0	and be influencers for Him.
0:20.0	In his sermon on the Mount,
0:22.0	Jesus gave us a list of beatitudes.
0:26.0	Beatitudes means blessings.
0:29.0	Blessings will come to those who choose to follow Jesus and surrender their lives to him.
0:34.8	When we become followers of Jesus, we give up all rights to our lives.
0:40.0	We say Jesus, I am yours. I will follow you. I will obey you. I will do what you ask of me to do.
0:47.5	And I can promise you that a life following Jesus is better than anything else.
0:55.0	And so today we're going to talk about the second beatitude that Jesus gave us.
1:00.0	The second beatitude is one that you might not be expecting when we talk about what does it look like to be an influencer for Jesus.
1:10.0	Jesus said, Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
1:16.0	Now you might be thinking, man, nobody wants to follow somebody who's mourning and sad all the time.
1:22.0	But let's look at an example of someone who is an influencer for Jesus
1:27.0	and who was also known for his mourning.
1:30.0	I'm talking about Jeremiah.
1:33.0	Jeremiah was a prophet in the Old Testament.
1:36.0	And do you know that Jeremiah's nickname was the Weeping Prophet?
1:41.0	How would you like to have that as your nickname? To be known as the
1:45.8	Weeper, somebody who weeps and cries. Well, Jeremiah is the Weeping Prophet
