Summary
A true piece of American west history as cowboy Andy Adams, in his book 'A Texas Matchmaker', recalls his younger days working as a cowboy on a Texas ranch and enjoying the competitions between his ranch and others- events to which came hundreds of men and women. It was a time to compete in feats of horsemanship and a time to kindle flames. The only problem seemed to be that young men could read cattle brands much easier than they could read women.....

| 0:41.2 | began his writing career at the age of 43. His parents were pioneers and he grew up handling |
| 0:46.4 | cattle and horses on the family farm before moving to Texas in the 1880s where he spent 10 years |
| 0:52.2 | driving cattle. He failed at a business venture and then attempted |
| 0:56.3 | gold mining, finally settling in Colorado Springs in 1894 where he lived until his death. |
| 1:05.5 | As a writer he would draw heavily on that experience when he began writing. Disgusted by the unrealistic cowboy fiction being |
| 1:10.2 | published at the time, Andy Adams took it upon himself to provide a better account |
| 1:15.0 | and draw heavily on his first-hand experiences to write the log of a cowboy in 1903. |
| 1:21.3 | By almost all accounts, Andy Adams succeeded in his effort to produce a realistic portrait of life on the trail, |
| 1:28.0 | and it's still widely considered the most compelling and accurate portrayal of cowboy life ever written. |
