Summary

Annie Trumbull Slosson was a prolific author of novels and short stories mostly dealing with New England life and nature. In this story the central character, Jimmy, was a 70 something man who roamed the waterways of the New Hampshire wilds and was kind to everyone and every animal he met. When he came across a traveling preacher who shared his love for fishing- Jimmy discovered religion.

introduce you to Amy Trumbull Slausen she was a terrific American author and

storyteller she wrote a lot of short stories written in the style of what they call

American literary regionalism, emphasizing the local color in her case of New England. She was also

an entomologist and she is noted for identifying previously unknown species.

Most of her stories were published in the Atlantic Monthly and Harper's Bazaar and some are collected into book form.

You might remember the author Henry Van Dyke whose story, the other wise man, we narrated

It was on the margin of Pond Brook just back of Uncle Eben's that I first saw a fish in Jimmy.
