| 1:02.9 | This summer we're going to be revisiting some of the classics of summer love, you know, the movies that really make us think of like making out under the boardwalk, sharing a single cone of ice cream with the perfect person, just those sweet summer boyfriend vibes. |
| 1:19.9 | Yeah, the ones that you saw in movies that maybe never like personally experienced, but it's fine. It's really fine. This week we're kicking off with maybe the most perfect summer romance film we could think of dirty dancing. |
| 1:32.9 | It is simply a perfect film and here to talk about it all with us is the perfect person. |
| 1:41.9 | The author of Lovely Novel Bad Luck Bridesmaid and just I'd say a general romcom aficionado, Alison Greenberg. |
| 1:51.9 | Thank you guys for having me. I am honored. Alison were so excited. I literally could not think of a better person to talk about this perfect film with. |
| 2:03.9 | I mean, God, dirty dancing has it all everything. I mean, we say like romcom is dirty dancing a romcom. I feel like that's like such a big question about the movie like a rom drama. |
| 2:18.9 | Maybe I'd say I think it's like a romance novel come to come to screen, which I don't think we see often enough like it has the there's some humor, but the focus is more on the passion and like the wrong side of the tracks love. |
| 2:32.9 | You know, with the good girl from from the nice family. |
| 2:37.9 | So let's start by talking about our experiences with dirty dancing a little bit. When did you first see the movie Alison? |
| 2:48.9 | It had to have been mid 90s. I had a mother who tried to keep me from watching anything sexy for so long. |
| 2:57.9 | So I feel like this came about right when I got my hands on pretty woman for the first time I got my hands on dirty dancing. I had a best friend who had like all the movies that her mom didn't care. |
| 3:07.9 | So it was definitely a sleepover movie for me and I remember being obsessed and not really understanding probably in any way, shape or form how big the abortion sub pot was or you know the age difference. |
| 3:20.9 | I just remember the chemistry and the dancing and the music like that for me and then we watching as an adult has been a whole other experience, I think and how oddly. |
| 3:32.9 | Like before it's time it was and how it holds up. It's just so interesting to me. I never thought about it that way as a kid. I just thought it was so sexy. |
| 3:41.9 | Yeah, it really is a movie that like operates on many levels. It definitely was a sleepover movie for me as well, but this was a movie that I think my mom introduced me to like she. |
| 3:55.9 | My mom was like a huge romantic movie person like she basically did all of my classic rom common rom drama education like you know when we were going to blockbuster like we were going to rent while you were sleeping and like I was going to enjoy it and working. |
| 4:14.9 | And dirty dancing was kind of part of that and then it was totally a movie that I would watch with friends on VHS at sleepovers and we would like try to do some of the dance sequences as the opening credits were playing we were like we too can sexy dance. |
| 4:33.9 | So it was just like aspirational in that way. Wow. I mean the movie came out in 1987 so we could all have seen it as early as our parents would let us I could have seen it as an infant, but I think I actually didn't see it until I was well into my teens. |
