I'm Deb Bowen.

And we're so happy to have you join us for our first summer book club selection.

This week we're going to be talking about the Way of the Rose.

It's written by Clark Strand and Perdida Finn.

Its official title is The Way of the Rose,

the Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary.

And I think what Deb and I both loved about this book is that it brings Mary

the Catholic image so many of us have of this virgin mother really to all of us.

And this book presents a new, well really not new, but new to some of us.

Look at the mother figure in a way that is inclusive to all people of all gender,

all faiths, all religions, all creeds.

And I think that's what the gift is of this book to me. Do you agree?

I sure do. Absolutely agree with you.

I think one of the things that speaks to what you've just said is that the accolades

for the book on the back cover come from Carolyn Mies, Sandra Ingramon,

Don Miguel Ruez, and several other just amazing writers who have said

this book deeply speaks to them and they feel like it's a book for our time.

And I think that's true. And I know you want to talk about Mary in that way.

And the Rosary in the Catholic sense, I want to talk about her and Rosary's in a much older,

in broader sense. And the idea of the Rose, it's as simple and the ecological implications that are

so prevalent throughout the book. So let's go. I'm excited.
