A lot of confusion yesterday in the case of Suddiction Kananke.

Our parents, of course, have asked the Dominican Republic police for a declaration of

death that she drowned in Punta Kana. And yesterday sort of in the same time frame, Joshua Rebe, who you see

in this thumbnail, appeared at a hearing in court. And the hearing took five hours. And the

substance of the hearing was whether or not he should be

released and allowed to return to the United States. And apparently after this five-hour hearing,

the decision by the judge was that, yes, he in fact should be able to return back to the United States.

There is no legal reason for the Dominican police to keep holding him there.

And we kept hearing the whole terminology, which I don't know where this actually came from.

Person of interest.

I think that was invented by the media.

A suspect or just a witness.

So what are we to believe?

Is he a person of interest?

Is he a suspect? Is he just a witness? But are witnesses

held against their will? He wants to go home. And what is a reason?

What is the level of proof they would need to hold him there as a suspect?

Well, in the United States, to arrest someone, you need something called probable cause.

And I don't know if it's the same in the Dominican Republic, but they have no evidence in which to hold him upon.

And every investigative mind that I've heard commenting on this case, of course, is saying red flag here, red flag there, but there's no
