Hi, everyone. I have something a little special and different to share with you today. It is related

to the news, but it's a little bit more personal. So here's the backstory. The news is that we have

the Super Bowl this weekend, Super Bowl 60. And the personal connection is that my father once played

in the NFL and he too played in several

Super Bowls.

However, let me just add a caveat, it wasn't exactly the way it is now.

And in fact, this happened before I was born.

And periodically, over the last several years on Smarter News, my dad has joined us for interviews before the

Super Bowl. He'll give you a little perspective. He's going to give you his thoughts on the game.

And it's always really fun to be able to share that with you. And unfortunately, this year,

my dad is unable to do that. He doesn't feel well enough to do it. And I'm sad. I'm missing that.

But I don't want to keep his voice from you

because I think any story that we're experiencing together deserves a little context. And my dad

can provide a little context of the Super Bowl and even to sports journalism as you're going to hear

in a very different way. My dad was the son of an associated press journalist. My grandfather was a war

correspondent in World War II and then had a long career with the Associated Press. And my dad

was raised in a household where journalism was really important and he got to do a little bit of

it too. So I like to think that journalism is in my blood and maybe football is too.

So I have a small portion of the interview that I filmed last year with my dad. It was actually a live interview.

I did in front of our insiders. So I was able to get questions from families all over the

country related to the Super Bowl and it was a great time. And I cut a small portion of that for
