0:00.0	Hi, I'm Corey Wayne, and today we're talking about student loan debt forgiveness, which has been in the news a lot because one of the things that Joe Biden ran on was forgiving student loan debt.
0:18.1	And something that I've always thought was unfair was that if somebody's become bankrupt,
0:25.7	that's like the one thing they can't discharge true bankruptcy is student debt. If you didn't
0:32.3	pay your taxes on time and as long as you filed, or didn't pay your tax all, as long as you filed, I think for four or five years ago,
0:40.8	you're able to write off your IRS tax debt as well, meaning you don't have to pay it.
0:46.2	But if you borrow a bunch of money to go to school, no matter what, it follows you forever.
0:52.8	And me personally, I'd like to see an amendment that's retroactive.
0:57.4	So anybody that went through a bankruptcy and was forced to continue paying on that student
1:03.8	loan debt, especially if it was for a garbage degree, which a lot of people are getting
1:07.5	garbage degrees that they can't even get a decent job,
1:11.1	paying a decent living to pay them back.
1:14.7	Those should be wiped out and they should be wiped out.
1:17.3	So if you had a bankruptcy 10 years ago and you've been paying on your student loan debt
1:21.8	ever since then, I believe you should get a check back for what you've been paying and make it retroactive.
1:28.6	And if somebody just hasn't been paying, even though they had a bankruptcy, it should all be
1:32.2	wiped out.
1:32.8	That's the right thing they do.
1:33.8	That's the fair thing to do.
1:35.5	But on the flip side, you got people arguing that because it doesn't just get expunged.
1:43.0	What typically happens is the federal government steps in,
1:46.4	gives the bank their money for the losses,
1:48.9	and then that just becomes part of the debt.
