| 0:00.0 | I have seen several different social media posts emphasizing the difference between building strength and building muscle. |
| 0:05.5 | I wonder if you could give your two cents. Is there really a difference that matters? |
| 0:09.0 | So I haven't seen any social media posts about this, but I'll give you my opinion on it. |
| 0:14.5 | So you can be super strong, but not have really big muscles. |
| 0:18.8 | And I guess a good example of this is at that I have lost a huge |
| 0:24.0 | amount of muscle on purpose. My back is nowhere near as big as it used to be. My back used to be |
| 0:29.3 | enormous. Like I had a huge muscular back, really big traps, which I don't have anymore. I showed up at |
| 0:35.9 | my husband a picture the other day. I said to him, look at this picture of me. And he said, you know, the biggest thing I can see. |
| 0:40.8 | It was actually me a year ago and then me now. He said, it's your traps. I, whenever I'm standing, I used to have these big, massive traps like this. You know, they would be right up on my, right up my neck. |
| 0:52.0 | And so I don't have the same back muscles that I used to have. |
| 0:55.1 | But whenever I |
| 0:56.3 | went to, we were training in the gym in Marbea, we were away three or four weeks ago in Spain. |
| 1:01.8 | We were training in the gym in Marbea and I did a really heavy back workout. I have not done a |
| 1:06.1 | really heavy back workout in a long time because I'm always training here with the dumbbells. But we went to the |
| 1:11.9 | gym. I did a really heavy back workout with all the machines that I normally use. And I was as strong |
| 1:17.4 | as I was before I started doing the dumbbell workouts at home. But my muscles are nowhere near as big. |
| 1:23.1 | So I used to have huge big muscles and big traps, but yet I was able to lift all of the weights that I was lifting a year ago in the gym. But yet my muscles aren't as big. It's the same with legs. Like whenever I go to train legs, my legs are nowhere near the size that they used to be. Now, if I went to Mark Getty, I'm sure my strength would not be the same as what it was a year ago, but my weights are not |
| 1:44.7 | far off what they were when I was big and bulky and had a huge amount of muscle. They're almost the same. |
| 1:51.4 | So I have, my muscles are a lot smaller now, but dear God, they are just as strong. So what does that |
| 1:57.4 | mean? Well, it means I've built a huge amount of supporting muscles in my body. I may not have enormous big quads or enormous big glutes anymore, although my glutes are looking mighty fine, I have to tell you. And that's probably why. I think one of the reasons why I've actually, my legs are still so strong because holy crap, the amount of muscle I have built in my glutes, now it hasn't happened fast enough, of course. I'm feeling all you guys. I'm like, grow bigger and faster booty, which it hasn't, but anyway, it's still getting bigger. So I think a lot of it, probably the leg lifting is the size of my glute muscles now because they're obviously bigger and stronger and taking up a lot of the load. But certainly my body is smaller. My muscles are smaller. It's definitely more compact, but yet I am just as strong. The only place I'm not as strong in is is in my chest. I was training chest in the gym a while ago. Whenever I had a week off recording, I decided to train in my home gym. I was training chest. I am nowhere near a strong in chest, because I just don't have the chest muscles that I used to have, |
| 2:51.3 | but I'm still pretty strong. So if you, building strength is all about building functional strength. |
| 2:57.0 | Because we train with these dumbbells, we are training all of our tiny little supporting muscles. |
