20th.

We start with the latest U.S. jobs report, which was delayed due to the government shutdown, but

showed stronger job growth than expected.

Government data shows that the U.S. economy added 119,000 jobs in September. Economists say that's a huge

rebound after major job losses over the summer. But the unemployment rate rose as well.

CNN's Alicia Wallace explains the delay, what it all means for the economy and possibly for your

pocketbook. Thanks, Aaron. The long-awaited jobs report was a bit of a mixed bag.

Beyond the job gains, Thursday's data also underscored ongoing weakness in the labor market.

Unemployment rose to a fresh nearly four-year high and August's already tepid gains,

well, they were revised down to a 4,000 job loss.

So while there is some optimism for the year ahead that increased certainty around trade policy plus benefits from the new tax law that those could boost hiring, in the meantime,

the low hire, low fire, few opportunities slog, that is the labor market, is expected to continue.
