For this week's clinical file, we have Hamza, and Hamza is three weeks post-stroke and presents with right-sided hemiparises.

He is able to sit unsupported but struggles to stand and has difficulty walking without assistance.

His Brunstrom stage is three for the right upper extremity and two for the right lower extremity.

Which of the following interventions would be most appropriate for this patient to improve his functional mobility and independence?

So we have A, facilitate weight bearing on the right lower extremity using

assistive devices. B, move the patient's right lower extremity through PNF patterns. C, use body

weight supported treadmill training. D, initiate fine motor activities for the right hand to improve hand dexterity.

One thing I want to say before we jump in is that gate intervention questions

serve as a unique challenge on the MPTE because the key is finding the major impairment,

limiting the function and then applying the correct treatment.

So this question is a prime example of this unique challenge.
