Occasionally, I've had the honor to minister to high-ranking military officers who are serving in the Pentagon.

Those leaders are models of strong Christian commitment.

During one discussion with them, the subject of integrity surfaced.

I asked if, in their ranks, a failure in character qualities was all that significant. Of course, they

immediately responded. Their commitment to personal integrity impressed me, because it was expressed

spontaneously and sincerely and unanimously. I told them they would make great pastors.

Suddenly the group became awkwardly quiet. One of the men finally broke the silence.

He said the conversation touched a nerve since most of the officers in our group attended the same church.
