(3:00) His book "In Defence of Meat" has caused some attention, a lot of it negative. (7:00) He is being accused of trying to diminish animal welfare, but that is not what he is doing at all. He just writes science-based articles about the importance of meat in nutrition and the importance of livestock. He also writes about animal welfare and that it is in the best interest of both the farmers and the animals to have reasonable parameters in place. He tells a story that is an example of how certain rules affect farmers' ability to produce. (18:00) Vinnie wonders what a journalist is anymore. (22:30) Now there is "identity news"; Andrea weighs in. Andrea feels like he is transparent in his efforts and in informing the public. (27:00) Andrea explains how he got caught up in a current controversy. (30:00) Truth is stranger than fiction. He was invited to do a podcast interview but it was used for an article where he was misrepresented. He was attacked on LinkedIn and explains how a different article claimed to have reached out to him "in depth" when in actuality it was a "copy and paste" situation. (34:00) So there's a big lack of integrity behind the claims against him. Deep Pocket Interests Andrea explains some of the differences in how topics are addressed in different parts of Europe vs. in the U.S. (35:15) Vinnie discusses how corporations have their hands in so many of the U.S. organizations like the ADA and the AHA. (40:00) There are deep pockets involved in so many of these interests. Vinnie shares an Instagram post that received a lot of comments accusing him of fear-mongering. (42:30) Andrea is not interested in falling into conspiracy theory; however, there is a definite drive from certain ideologies to replace animal agriculture with manufactured products. (48:00) Vinnie gives a rundown on how the argument by vegans and other activists keeps changing. (52:00) Organizations in Europe are trying to claim that livestock animals are emitting more gases than transport vehicles. (54:00) They chat about other ideas that spark controversy. (49:00) Denmark is forcing farms to close to fall under climate numbers. In Ireland, there is a movement to kill over 200,000 head of cattle.
