Number 5. The New Canaan Hammer Case

Well, a young man from New Canaan went before a judge today accused of killing his mother in their home.

Sebastian Van Stockham was arraigned on a murder

charge in the death of Laura Williams. New Canaan is one of the most affluent towns on the

entire East Coast. It's picture perfect with large homes, trimmed hedges, and everything in its right place,

which is exactly why the first scream stood out so much.

In the late morning on Friday, October 24th, 2025, dispatch started getting reports of a young

man yelling in the woods near Girds Road and South Avenue. Officers rolled out that way,

and before they even got eyes on him, another call hit the line.

A man on the phone who confessed something you don't hear every day saying,

I just killed my mom and I don't know why.

Police reached the property on Gerd's Road and found what those calls had warned about.

The 55-year-old Laura Williams was outside on the ground beyond saving. Nearby, a blood-covered

hammer. Inside the home, 20-year-old Sebastian Van Stockham, Laura's son, was taken into custody.
