To be stranded anywhere, marooned, sucks.

It's going to be uncomfortable.

You're going to have to find a way to get through it until rescue.

Usually that means finding shelter, eating bugs, and drinking urine.

But for astronauts Sunita, and Barry Wilmore,

it will mean an extended stay in the place they've always longed to be. At her space,

Sunny Williams was born Sunita Pandia to parents Deepak and Bonnie in Euclid, Ohio.

But the family actually made Massachusetts their home, and she considers Needham, Massachusetts,

her hometown. In elementary school, there is named after her and for good reason.

Sunny graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy in 1987,

as well as a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology in 1995.

She was an ensign in the Navy in 1987, then became a basic diving officer before being designated

a naval aviator in 1989. She was involved in helicopter combat support and was a part of

Desert Shield and Operation Provide Comfort. She has more than 3,000 hours logged in 30 different

aircraft. Sunny reported for astronaut training in August

1998. Following her training, she eventually served as deputy chief of the astronaut office and served

as a flight engineer for Expedition 32 and then International Space Station Commander for

Expedition 33. She has a husband named Michael, and they have three dogs and a cat.

The one who gets the most attention is her Jack Russell Terrier, Gorby.
