Summary

I’m joined by Jennifer Teplin, LCSW and founder of Manhattan Wellness, joins the show to talk about how we can own that your 20s might not be the best time of your life, and that’s okay. We discuss the idea of who we thought we would be vs who we are, how to embrace where we’re at, and why you should never compare yourself to anyone else’s timeline or life milestones. We chat about the pressure to find, “the one,” and answer listener questions about managing anxiety in the early stages of dating and relationships.

You guys, I've been looking forward to today's episode for so long. The topic that we're going to cover today is one of the most highly requested things that, like, you guys ask me to talk about on the podcast and that you guys are DMing me asking me questions about. And, you know, I love bringing in experts to talk about

0:41.3

the important things. So today I am so honored and excited to have Jennifer Teppelin, the founder

0:47.3

of Manhattan Wellness, on the show today. Manhattan Wellness is a boutique therapy practice that

Thank you. I'm so excited. And I feel like from the second that we connected, I've been really looking

1:12.2

forward to our conversation. There's so much here to get into before we jump right in.

1:16.9

I'd love to hear what led you to create this therapy practice. Why did you decide that you wanted

1:24.2

to build something rather than just maybe like being a therapist at a different

1:27.7

practice.

1:29.2

So Manhattan wellness was built out of two pieces of inspiration.

1:34.1

The first is the practice that I wish existed when I was in my 20s, when I was dating in

1:40.1

school, living with roommates, checking off all the boxes, thinking it would make me happy,

1:45.3

and realizing that I wasn't fulfilled.

1:47.4

I was searching for a therapist that just got it and wanted to kind of ride the wave

1:53.3

with me, and I found it really hard to find that individual.

1:56.4

And then once I graduated from my clinical schooling, I then joined a private practice. And it was
