The bad news is that Trump and Republicans are already walking back campaign promises on inflation and immigration. The good news is that he hasn’t even taken office yet and none of this misdirection is irrevocable. This is why we are at a crossroads. We can either continue treating the party like a boyfriend and covering for its betrayals with excuses. Or we can treat them like wayward children and force them into a better direction. I offer ideas for how we do that on spending and immigration. I also warn about the growing evidence that Trump will get involved in red-state gubernatorial primaries, as RINOs work to get his endorsement.
