And it hit me.

How fascinating it is that this flaw we sometimes feel so burdened by actually served us

well in our evolutionary past.

Think about it.

In the earlier days of humanity,

seeking approval was a survival tactic.

If you weren't liked by the tribe,

you were out in the cold, literally.

Being accepted meant protection, support, and survival.

But somewhere between those ancient days and now,

that instinct, which once kept us safe, started to work against us.

We've become so focused on seeking approval that it's actually hurting our well-being.

So today, as we continue with our series, we're diving into how to let go of that need for constant validation

in the workplace and instead trust ourselves and who we are, quirks, flaws, and all.

The likability politics in the workplace reveal an intriguing dynamic.

We often find ourselves striving to be liked by people

we may not even be fond of in real life.
