Here's your closing bell brief for Tuesday, March 24th. I'm Catherine Sullivan for the Wall Street

Journal. U.S. stocks fell today as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East weighed on investor sentiment.

The NASDAQ was down 0.8%, and the S&P 500 fell 0.4%, while the Dow was down 0.2%. Oil prices climbed back above $100 a barrel due to new

attacks in the Persian Gulf. Government bond yields and the dollar also moved higher during the session,

and shares in alternative asset managers fell as more investors asked to pull money out of private credit.

Among individual companies,

Tesla shares rose nearly 1% after reporting its first monthly sales gain in Europe in over a year.

Jeffrey's Financial Group shares gained nearly 3% after the Financial Times reported a possible takeover by a Japanese financial group.

Este Lauder shares slid 10% as the company confirmed talks to acquire a Spanish perfume maker.

And Amazon shares fell over 1% after its cloud service business reported disruptions to its data centers in Bahrain amid the Iran war.
